Q. I have an NTSC only model. Can I make it multiregion? A. Depends on the model.
If you have an NTSC only model, then in most cases it can be modified for multiregion playback. However, this does NOT mean you can play non NTSC discs!
Region 2 discs are available in PAL (europe) and NTSC (Japan) format. An NTSC Panasonic DVD-LA95 (for example) will only be able to play Region 2 NTSC
discs (Not PAL) once modified for multiregion.
You can check if your player supports PAL by checking the user manual, or burn a PAL test disc
by following the instuctions HERE.
Our website indicates if the chosen model can be modified if originally NTSC or not before purchase.
Q. I still cannot play copied DVDs A. A multiregion upgrade will not add new features to your machine!
A Multiregion modification does not change your machines hardware, if you were unable to read certain formats of disc before (such as DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, etc) then the simple answer is
you will need to buy a machine that is advertised as playing the disc format(s) that you want to play.
Q. I have modified my machine for multiregion, but it won`t play PAL discs A. Your machine is an NTSC only model!

Q. Why do Region 1 discs play in Black & White, scrambled or flickers, but Region 2 discs play in colour? A. Your TV is NOT NTSC3.58 Compatable.
American region 1 Discs are in a different video format to UK region 2 UK discs. America uses the NTSC3.58 format, UK uses PAL. Most modern TV sets will
accept a NTSC signal. Some older or lesser known brands will not accept the NTSC format, hence why you may have the problem above. However the majority of
these TVs can accept a "PAL60" signal, or a RGB input via scart (please see your TV and DVD player manuals). Most DVD players such as Pioneer, Panasonic,
Samsung, and JVC will output an NTSC disc in PAL format. Simply check the supplied user manual to enable this feature.
If your DVD player does not offer NTSC->PAL out, you can also (on most dvd players) enable RGB OUT via scart.
To use the RGB via scart option, connect your DVD player via a fully wired scart to the TVs RGB scart (usually AV1), enable RGB SCART output
on the DVD players setup menu, and activate RGB IN on your TV. You may need to refer to your TV and DVD player manuals.
Q. I`m using S-Video, but the picture is grainy and black & white. A. You have not selected the S-Video input.
You TV is not S-video compatible or you have not selected the correct input - refer to your TV instruction manual.
Q. I can backup my region 2 DVDs, but not R1 DVDS. A. We do not assist or advise on "VHS BACKUP"!
Any DVD player supplied with "macrovision disabled" is done so for use with projector Tvs and Plasma screens. Should you attempt to back-up DVD onto VCR, you do so at your own risk and we will offer no assistance, so please don`t ask!
Q. My TV has no Scart. how do I tune in the DVD player. A. You Cannot! Change your TV!
DVD players are designed for high quality resolution playback. Should you be attempting to use your DVD player on a TV with no scart, or even a 4:3 set,
then you should change your TV. You will only gain optimum performance with a DVD player once you have connected via Scart and a 16:9 widescreen TV or
screen. If you are not prepared to change your TV, then you are not going to benefit from the widescreen format of DVD!
Q. When I play a disc, small squares appear on screen. A. You have either a dirty / damaged disc, or your players lens needs cleaning
When small squares appear (artifacts) this is caused by either your players dirty lens, a dirty or damaged disc, or badly mastered discs (i.e copies or pirate discs). This has nothing to do with a modification and is caused
by one of the above. Your player user manual will also refer to this in the troubleshooting section.
Q. RCE - Region Coding Enhancement. What is it? A. A film protection system for Region 1 discs usually used by Columbia Tristar.
RCE was a new protection system introduced by Warner brothers and Columbia tristar in October 2000. It is not used on all their discs, and usually before
you buy a film with RCE protection you will be warned about it! Its purpose is to prevent the export of Region 1 NTSC software from its native region
overseas, where the disc material may still be (or just launched) at the cinema. There are no plans for it to be released on any other region disc as its purpose it to prevent export of R1 discs only,
to maximise cinema releases. Almost all our upgrades are RCE compatible, it mainly affects machines manufacturered before 1999. If in doubt, look for a green tick under the RCE column on our upgrade tables.
To play RCE movies on Old (not SD210e/110e) Toshiba DVD players tryt he following - Depending on the model:
Insert the RCE disc.
Wait for the RCE screen (shown at top of page)
Press Memory
Select Title 1
Select Chapter 1
Press play
Press clear.
Insert the RCE disc.
Dont wait for the RCE screen (shown at top of page)
press T twice
press enter 1 second
press play.

Error Messages
EO6.00- Fuses blown on MPEG board
E07.00- Flash memory not soldered correctly or blown
E13.00- Dirty/unreadable Disc
E30.00- Flatcables not connected correctly
If a player does not power up after modification you have most likely blown a fuse.
Check the Power Supply Fuses-P211 ( 750 Ma), P311 ( 2 amp), P312(750 Ma), P511 (750Ma)
- these are Yellow and resistor shaped and F101 (2 Amps) this is a glass fuse.
Check MPEG board fuses-F001 to F004 (800Ma) and F005& F006 (1.6 Amp) all are
very small, Yellow and rectangular in shape.
Other Problems
(S315, S715, S7700)
Does not play certain titles- check parental settings
Black and white in region 1 – Your T.V is not set to NTSC or NTSC compatable
Remote does not work- wires 5 and 6 are the wrong way round, dry joints or damaged flash.
The player plays only regions 0, 2, 4 or 6 - Pin 7 not connected on PIC
Pad lifted on connection 3- solder to end of resistor
Pad lifted on connection 3- solder to pin 80 on IC604 on Ifcon (top of board)
(S325, 525, 725, f11, 850d)
Player is stuck in region 1 - blown or missing pic or cap wired wrong way round
Player powers up, but goes of again after a second - blown/incorectly soldered
flash rom or damaged pads
player works fine, but then powers down - solder bridge on test points and flash
